My friends and I came back from our road trip during our spring break period - from March 18 to 25. Several places we have been to are foever and long lasting spectacular. Unfortunately, it was merely a short break trip; after driving pass eight states, we had to come back to UIUC in the sixth day of this wonderful journey.
In my point of view, I cannot stand saying that this trip is miraculous and very impressive at least to me. Our panel, six law students and a friend from Thailand, decided to hire the van and drove from Illinois to our distination, Cleveland, Niagara Falls, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. Some of us, Tae, Jet and I, took turn to drove a van for the long way.
The first day, we stopped by to visit Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland; finally, we stayed at Triangle apartment for one night. Surprisingly, we, seven people, slept in the same room comfortably. The second day, we left Cleveland and drove directly to Niagara Falls located in the City of Niagara Falls, New York. Even though the temparature was below zero degree C, we were very pleased to stand in the windy place. Nothing could prohibit us from the largest falls at all; the feeling of exhaustedness disappeared instantly.
We stayed in the City of Niagara Falls for one night. On the third day, we were heading to the Grand Mension in Newport, Rhode Island. Unfortunately, we did not enough time to visit the those mensions when we arrived this the fifth state of our distination. The Chinese eatery was the most favorite food we picked, not because of its tastes, but because its reasonable price. Only $10 did we have to spend for the very wonderful food such as a stream crab. After long driving, we feel extremely exhausted and felt asleep readily. The fourth day, we woke up around 0800 a.m. as usual and thereafter we went to the Newport area to visit the Grand mansions which are preserved by the Preservation Society of Newport County, a non-profit organization. Only one mansion opens for us; of course, it is the best and largest one - the Breaker.
We lost again and again due to the wrong map we got from the map quest; do you believe me? Several times, we failed to find out the route to go to Connecticut, the home town of my police officer friend who has been studying in the Forensic principle at University of New Heaven , one of the best university in this area of study. Pol.Capt.Sorada called and asked the exact time we would arrive her place so that she could prepare the good meal for us even if she rarely cooks! Oh! Her food was very deliciousl! After we were done from the palatable dishes, Sorada and her friend gave us a tour to Yale University located in New Heaven city. I felt like I had been watching Harry Potter's school while walking around this prestigious university.
I really love this school, especially the school of law. It reminded me to think about Indiana University the school of law; its buildind look essentially similar. After finishing Yale University, we were heading to Boston city instantsly even if Sorada offered her room for us to stay. The first town we standed in Massachusetts is the "New Town" where presently is named as Cambridge. This city is the location of the best university which used to be only small house for teachin in 1630; currently, it is known as Harvard Univesity. Cambridge is located in the opposition of Boston, where the Charles river lies between those ancient cities in Massachusetts and the United States.
We still had very good opportunity to take a picture which the royal relative, namely Ploy-pailin. She is the daughter of the former older princess of our King. Concomitantly, we met her while she was purchasing a lunch at MIT, the home of her MBA school.
To me, I love to study law and history; the ancient city like Boston and Cambridge is very interesting to me. Indepedent war, which could be stated differently as the war of tea, is the model that we as a law and political student has to study. The idea of "No taxation without representatives" is the one idea that the democratic country must enshrine. Even the king cannot violate the rule of law and the norms of the democratic ideal!
It is very pity to know that we have only one day to stay in Boston. If we had more special time, I would travel around the Freedom Trail thoroughly. I would take a tour-bus to visit several places I really want to see. Howver, we came as a group; hence, it was not a good idea to separate myself from the group to visit around the city and leave my friends in the shopping town. It is my intention to revisit this wonderful towns again in the next possible time, but I don't know the exact event.
I subjected to myself that the "financial heritage" is very important for developing the university and rasing the ranking. Money and ranking are playing the vital role and supporting each other. Without money, the ranking rasing is virtually impossible. For example, Harvard University founded and occupied twenty thousand millions dollars to support its study and other purposes. The leading school such as Cornell University imposes the very prohibited price for the ordinary student. The tution fee for a law student is almost $50,000 a year, which is as twice as that of the public university.
Absolutely, it is true that the money can engender the better facilities for students; then, the ordinary or the poor might have to pay such prohibited price like a "Trade - off" option. Nevertheless, it does not assure that such students will success in their life and they might not be able to grasp what they want particular the knowledge.
I am thankful to my panel who rendered this trip happened as following; Tae and Jet who was the good drivers, Tai who was sick prior to the begining of the trip, Nooch who decided to join our trip in the last minute, ่Golf, who directly flighted to the States to join our trip, and finally, Oil who provided us the good technology and best luck in the betting!
Most importantly, I am really thankful the host who provided us the meal and the place to stay in some period of time during our trip. Firstly, Pol. Capt. Sorada for her good meal and her genoristy to provide us the guide in visiting New Heaven & Yale University;. Mr. Krich who facilicitated us during visiting Case Western Reserve University; Mr. Sunny who granted a useful guidance for all day in Cambridge and Boston visiting; Dr. Wu who gave us a helpful guidance at MIT visiting; and finally, Mr. Jok who privided us the enjoyable guidance at Cornell University. Again, thank you guys very much.
