Last two blogs, I have written about the problem of the public enterprise administration in Thailand, that is, the issue of public television contract, generally known as ITV. This television has long established around 1992 after the event of public demonstration to protest the pro-longed power of the 1991 coup, which during that period the coup prohibited and eliminated all methods of public communications. The state of Thailand after the begining of the new democratic government in 1992 declared its intention to found the independent television station to promote the freedom to access the public administration.
However, the state of Thailand, in my point of view, began this plan with the wrong way. The private corporations had been invited to offer the highest rate of benefit if they can get the license to broadcast. ITV offered more than 200,000 millions bath to Thailand if they got the permission. Indeed, this offer was ridiculously too high.
Approximately three years later, ITV subjected to the unprolific benefit and could not pay the offered sum to the state. Many measures aiming to continue this public television stateion ensued in Thaksin's administration, and after Chin's Corporation took over the majority of share-holders in ITV company. ITV got permission to pay less than the amount they offerred at the begining of this station.
Today, after the coup in 2004, those legal activities surprisingly becomes illegal. All process initiated by Thaksin's government seemed suspicios and subjected to be scrutinized. The rationale behind the bar, nevertheless, I believe that the coup has to keep their face to confront with their accusations against the democratic government that had been overturned by them in 2004. ITV, which is shared by Thaksin's family corporation, is one of the victim of political problems.
Those are not my business. Presently, I guess that I am so lucky that I have no money like Mr. Thaksin. Then, I have not to feel upset regarding my assets that I have obtained throughout my life and have been being taken away by the opposite groups. However, I wonder this revange system will discourage the rich in Thailand to keep their properties in their motherland. They may feel insecure that one day their assets will be appropriated based on the political problems!
