Facebook - Racial Discrimination!

The CNN news reports the events of white men party which engenders the racial discrimination problems. This story derived from the pictures posted in “Facebook.com” the popular sociality connecting site in the United States. These parties were called “the Gangsters,” which were arranged on Martin Luther King’s Day in several universities such as the Connecticut School of Law, university of North Carolina, and some universities in Texas.

On this site, it demonstrates the pictures of white men dressing and decorating in the same manner of African-American. Some of them tanned their skins completely dark like the black guys. Others had their hair cut like the so-called the “gangsters of black guys.”

These impersonating characteristics made the black student infuriated and called the White guys to apologize them. They said that this manner was totally inappropriate, particularly arranged on the National holiday of their African-American hero – Martin Luther King. His honorable hero did bravely fight for civil rights movement for them in the mid of nineteenth century. The white guys should have praise him. Even though the white guys have said that they had not intended to insult him or black guys, they should be aware of what they were doing!

In contrast, the white students spoke that they did not consider those parties were not inappropriate and shamed to insult any black guys. It was just a party. However, the organizers had not response for the opposite yet. Only did some arranging men say that they would like to apologize if such activities estranged the black’s feeling.

These events are salutary for us to remind ourselves about what we will do. Maybe, the face – and the term of losing face – in Asian country culture is very important for even the westerners!

Coolie Man!

Do you know that last two years the former Prime Minister of Thailand did speak the term "Coolie,"or "กุลี" in Thai, and it caused him a lot of problems to him? Most Thai scholars consider this term is too rude and uneducated because it contains bad connotation in itself. In contrast, I indeed do not feel anything about this word! I do not feel that it implies any bad definition!

Mr. Thasik Shinawatra said this term in the Labour Day on May 1, 20o5. By speaking the term of "Coolie," he was severely criticized that he aimed to insult any person who works in general tasks but gets the low income!

How do you think about this term? Is it a bad word?

To My Royal Police Cadet School!

A few month ago, after the notorious coup in September 19, 2006 which was wrongly called "bloodless one", the military regime set up the dictator cabinet to run Thailand during the coup period. This dictator cabinet induces popularism by asserting that they would implement the "King's sufficient economics ideal" and establish the "Happiness" for Thai, rather than the growth of GDP. How excellent is the dictator government's policy?

I really like to know if the people have no any single penny, how can they have the so-called "happiness?" I am positive that they have to eat, unless they can smile to fulfill thier hungry feeling. If it can be true, it will be great! Ironically, it is impossible, particularly for me! I am only normal person.

During this dictorship administration, the Prime Minister of Thailand appointed the Police Reform Committee to reinforce the ideal of transparency, efficiency and the free of corruption in Police Department.

Numerous proposals have been declared and known to public. The most suspicious idea is to eliminate the Royal Police Cadet Academy of Thailand. Some members of this committee, such as Mr. Jarun Phakditanakul, the permanent secretary of Mistry of Justice, claim that my school engenders the bad police officer! Then, the change of police training institution is the best way to reform police misconduct! They submit that the current police training program at Police Academy is not good enough because it trains as the military alike!

It might be true that the military training style is incongruent with the police job! However, it is bad logic to conclude that my school should be eliminated because the police performance is poor! The committee should realize that only a part of police force graduated from this school. Most of them graduated from several universities in Thailand including Chulalongkorn, and Thammasat University.

Most of police misconduct in Thailand maybe derive from those police officers. Why does the committee not eliminate all universities in Thailand? I think the most important is that how to enhance the human resource in Royal Thai Police Department. The long chain of hierachical command is another crucial problem. The last one is the attitude of police officer; we have to take a long time to train them to better their attitude!

How can we trust the person who graduate from the universities mor than the persons who are trained for four years in police academy? According to my own experience, the pundits from universities have never been trained and implanted about moral either! Unlike the police cadet students, they have been morally implanted everyday!

The social bonding and obligation in Thailand is very loose. Most Thai like to know police to get some "benefit" by paying some kickback or convenient fee. However, they blame other who get the privilege from the officials! When being subjected to poor-salary and unethically continuous education, some of those police officers take a bribe! It is so bad, but true. Under this condition, even the well-trained police officers cannot bear the tempting surroundings. How can the unimplanted-persons do? What the hell is Mr. Jaran's idea?

How much does it cost?

As mentioned in the last blog, I have been to St. Louis to celebrate New Year 2007.


We have been to the best Italian Restuarant in this city. It is very closed to the Little Italy in Down Town.

Everything is fine for me except I have never loved cheese. Since I came to the United States, I have rarely eaten American food. I cook my fovorite Thai food all the time.







We ordered a glass of fruit shake-up. Do you know how much?

It costed us almost $3 for each - six people, including tip. That means it is more than $15 for one glass!

Shit! How extremely prohibited is it?

St. Louis visiting

I have been to welcome the year of 2007 at Saint Louis, MO, for two nights and three days. You might be very surprised why I took so long time in this small town.

I indeed prefer to visit the historical place like the Gate way to Western territory. It fulfills me the needs to know about American history after President Jefferson bought this land from Napoleon.

At that time, this territory was unknown to any European countries and the United States.


Americans considered that the land purchasing of the fourth president was a stupid idea. The main goal of this project was to find the way to reach the ocean in the western coast. The President hired Lewis and Clark to explore this unknown land.

The disappeared for four years prior to coming back with the numerous reports of animals, rivers, etc. They finally were appointed the governors the new states! Unfortunately, one committed suicide!


I decided to go to celebrate the new year event this city because I like to learn about an American history. Additionally, I like to view the area around the Arch at the highest point of St. Louis city.




To do that, we have to pay around $10 for elavator to get into the highest of the Arch. It is around 600 feet high! From the summit point, I saw the old court house and others buildings showing in the fifth picture of this blog. On the other side of the Arch, I can see the liver and other sourounding buidings.








On the first day of my trip, I been to Washington University at Saint Louis. The first building I saw is so attractive that I cannot wait to taking a lot of pictures.

We been to many places during this trip. For example, we been to the Arch Gate way, Art Museum located in Forest Park.






We also went to the best Zoo in the United, and took around 3 hours to visit our old friends living in the Zoo!


We also have a chance to visit Thai Temple in St. Louis. It is coincidentally that the temple is very near to our hotel. We took only 10 minutes by car from our hotel to visit the monks.






We have no rice to share. Then, we donated some money to the temple instead. It is good time for us. The monk gave us the blessing and the charm!

We will visit this temple again if we have a chance!
